SCHOOL PORTRAITS
Model Call | Bristol
Hi and Welcome!
It's wonderful to have you here!

I'm Debbie, Bristol-based family and school photographer and mama to a six-year-old firecracker. Having worked in schools for over 17 years I know a thing or two about kids and schools, and bringing the two together for natural school portraits is fast becoming a firm favourite of mine.
Thank you so much for signing up to my school portraits model call. I cannot wait to meet you and help you capture beautifully natural school photos of your little one.
All You Need to Know About Your School Portrait Photoshoot
Where: Victoria Park, Bristol, BS3. We will aim to meet near the wooden play equipment and water maze at the bottom end of Victoria Park. If you're unfamiliar with the park, it's the area that runs adjacent to St Luke's Road, not too far from the basketball court. Click the link to find the water maze featured on Google Maps.
When: Your session confirmation email will contain the day and time of your photoshoot. I'll also send you a reminder text beforehand. Your session will last approximately 30 minutes, less if we get the images we need quickly.
Who: The photoshoot is for the child/ children you have told me about in your questionnaire.
Dress Code: Children should wear school uniform for their photoshoot. This can be branded with the school logo or unbranded.
What to Bring: Children are invited to bring their favourite teddy and their favourite book. It will act as a great icebreaker and will hopefully offer a little comfort to your child. I'll bring my teddy along too! Don't forget to look after yourself, as well! Wear warm clothes and bring a hot drink.
Parking: There is free on street parking on Hill Avenue and on the residential side roads nearby.

Got Questions? Let Me Answer Those For You
1. What if it rains?
Ah the wonderful British weather! In the lead up to your photoshoot I will keep an eye on the forecast. If weather is looking too iffy for outdoor photos I will schedule in another day with you.
2. What should we wear?
Layer up. I recommend your child wears layers underneath their school uniform to keep them warm. They can wear their coat in between takes if needed.
3. What will my session be like?
My natural approach means I keep things relaxed and genuine. Sessions will be child-led meaning we go with the flow and capture your child as they are. As we chat, giggle and play with the kids I will click away to ensure I'm authentically capturing your little ones personality. There will be some gentle guidance from me but no cheesy smiles here.
4. What Should Parents Do During the Shoot?
Parents will stay with us to help their child feel comfortable and relaxed. Standing behind the photographer (that's me!) being silly is strongly encouraged.
Note: You do not have to tell your child to smile. That's where the being silly comes in!
5. What if my children play up?
Kids will be kids so let's embrace their unique quirks and unbounding energy! There may be giggling fits or meltdowns but that's life, isn't it?
The location I have chosen has play equipment and a water maze to explore to keep things child-friendly
6. My child is apprehensive about having photos taken
Most people, including me, feel unsure about having their photograph taken.
Tell your little one you are meeting your friend Debbie for a playdate in the park. Let them know I am a big kid at heart who loves playing and silly jokes.
7. When will I receive my images?
You will receive your private online viewing gallery within 2-3 weeks of the photoshoot. Please allow a little extra time after the school holidays.
Here you will be able to select your favourite digital images. They will be ready to download shortly afterwards.
Prints will be delivered to you within 4 weeks of your order.
