Beyond the Scar is a photography project dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of caesarean section births and their profound impact on mothers. Through beautifully honest portraits of Bristol mamas and the sharing of their unique birth stories, I aim to highlight the strength, resilience, and beauty of mamas who have experienced a caesarean birth, one story at a time.
Hi, I'm Debbie!
I'm a Bristol mother, mama cheerleader, newborn lover and toddler playmate. My approach is to capture your family's beautiful everyday moments of love and togetherness in a natural, honest and gentle way.
I am looking for Bristol mothers who are happy to chat with me about their experience of caesarean section birth and who would like beautiful portraits of their motherhood story and delivery scar.

Sharing Your Unspoken Story
Motherhood Stories: Beyond the Scar is a project that emerged from countless conversations with mamas who have experienced a caesarean section. Despite knowing that births via C-section are on the rise, I was astonished by the sheer number of friends and clients who have welcomed their little ones through either a planned or unexpected caesarean birth. And yet, generally speaking we don't talk about it much, do we?
All birth stories deserve to be seen and heard and I want to spark conversations by providing mamas like you with a safe space to share your caesarean birth (and post-partum) stories. Here, you can feel empowered to revisit your experiences, thoughts and feelings and document this chapter of your motherhood journey with gentle and beautiful portraits.
Little Bodhi Photography welcomes mamas in any season of motherhood and seeks to represent parents from all walks of life. Together, I hope we can raise awareness of caesarean births so that mamas feel informed, empowered, and heard.
